David Mundell, UK Trade Envoy to New Zealand, to speak at the Summit

David Mundell, UK Trade Envoy to New Zealand, to speak at the Summit

Over the past 3-4 years, there have been significant efforts to accelerate NZ-UK agritech engagement.

Against the backdrop of the NZ/UK Free Trade Agreement, this has been a valuable and important discussion. Innovate UK, the UK Government's Innovation agency, brought a delegation of agritech professionals over to New Zealand in 2019. We had a great meeting with the delegation during this visit. In the same year, a NZ agritech delegation visited UK Dairy Day in September. Wharf42 visited Harper Adams University and the Agri-EPI Centre in Staffordshire separately, a month later.

During the COVID pandemic, we have stayed in close contact with both UK DIT’s agritech team in London and the UK High Commission in Wellington. We were therefore delighted to be joined by UK High Commissioner to New Zealand, Laura Clarke, for the soft launch of the 2035 Oceania Summit at National Fieldays in June 2021.

We are thrilled that David Mundell MP, UK Trade Envoy to New Zealand, has added his weight to the Summit. David has agreed to support the Summit both before and after. He understands that the two-day Summit in October is part of a longer-term platform to increase research and commercialisation collaboration across the Oceania region and wider global community.

David’s commitment supports the ongoing efforts to accelerate UK-NZ agritech engagement. The Summit is determined to support them.
